A host of fun and educational activities, geared towards the promotion of the scouts movement in the country, was lined up for the Scouts Day 2020 organised by the Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (PPNBD) at The Mall in Gadong yesterday.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin launched the open day event.

Apart from showcasing scout activities in Brunei, regionally and internationally through pictures, videos and presentations, the event also allowed the public to interact with scout members across all levels to learn more about the association and its work.

The activities included a Beyblade competition and a colouring competition.

The open day hopes to encourage more people to sign up for the scout movement, in line with PPNBD’s 2014-2024 Strategic Plan to reach 5,000 members by 2024. The event also fosters closer cooperation between scout leaders, members and their families.

A highlight of the open day was the introduction of PPNBD’s official song, produced by a scout member through the new PPNBD Band Unit and an exhibition by scout entrepreneurs.

PPNBD also introduced the Baden Powell Guild (BP Guild) which gathers former scout members to contribute to the country and inculcate the scouting spirit.
