His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam received in audience State Councillor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi at Istana Nurul Iman yesterday.
During the audience ceremony, His Majesty and the State Councillor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China discussed bilateral and regional issues of mutual importance to Brunei Darussalam and the People’s Republic of China.
Wang Yi’s three-day visit to Brunei Darussalam reflects the warm and long-standing relations between both countries, as well as the People’s Republic of China’s full support for Brunei Darussalam as ASEAN Chair in 2021.
Accompanying him were Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam Yu Hong; Vice Minister of Commerce Qian Keming; Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Wu Jianghao; and China International Development Cooperation Agency Vice Chairman Deng Boqing.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah and Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof were also present.
This year also marks the 30th anniversary of bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and the People’s Republic of China, and ASEAN-China dialogue relations.
