Over 270 congregants of Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Sungai Akar participated in a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony for the mosque’s ‘One Week, One Juzuk’ and ‘One Week, One Khatam’ programmes yesterday.
Both programmes, incepted in July last year via Zoom saw participants completing the Khatam Al-Quran for 30 weeks.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman was the guest of honour.
The event saw the launch of the 75 times Khatam Al-Quran in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 75th birthday, which is part of an annual programme organised by the mosque’s Takmir committee.
The 75 times Khatam Al-Quran was launched by Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong who is also the advisor of the mosque’s Takmir committee.
Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin also attended.
The event also saw the guest of honour presenting appointment letters to 41 committee members of the mosque’s Takmir committee for 2021-2022.
