Two Sultan’s Scholar recipients signed agreements with Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah yesterday, for the academic session of 2020/2021.
Minister of Defence II and Chairman of the Yayasan Board of Directors Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof witnessed the signing ceremony.
Hajah Izzatul Faizah binti Dr Haji Mohamad and Muhammad Aiman Syafiq bin Haji Ramlee signed the agreements, accompanied by parents and family members as guarantors.
Representing Yayasan were Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) at the Ministry of Development (MoD) Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak as Acting Managing Director of Yayasan and Yayasan Assistant Managing Director Haji Puasa bin Haji Jumat.
The students were also the recipients of the Sultan’s Scholar awarded on September 24, 2016, by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
Hajah Izzatul Faizah will pursue her Postgraduate Diploma Bar Vocational Studies (with specialism) at The City Law School, City, University of London in the United Kingdom (UK) after completing an LLB Law at the London School of Economics and Political Sciences, UK.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Aiman Syafiq will be pursuing Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Radiation at the University of Cambridge, UK. Prior to this, he did a programme in Biomedical Engineering (BEng) at the University College London, UK.
He was also a Sultan’s Scholar recipient in 2019, during which he pursued his MSc in Radiation Biology at the University of Oxford in the UK.
In the same year, he received the Yayasan incentive for excelling in his studies, by being awarded First Class Honours in Biomedical Engineering (BEng).
