SOME 200 trainees from the Youth Development Centre yesterday received their certificates at the 16th certificate presentation ceremony after completing courses under the Youth Development Programme and short-term programme for session 2014-2015.
The guest of honour who presented the certificates to the recipients was Haji Rosmadee bin Haji Mohd Daud, the Acting Director of Youth and Sports Development at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
Some 126 trainees completed courses under the Youth Development Programme, namely, 33 trainees in Basic Information Technology and Communications, 21 in Banquet Culinary, 20 in Pastry and Confectionary, five in Fashion Design Technology, three in Beauty Therapy, 13 in Welding and Fabrication, 12 in Vehicle Body Repair, 10 in Domestic Water Plumping and nine in Air-Conditioning courses.
The other 74 recipients completed courses under the short-term programme such as ITC (12 persons), AutoCAD from March to May 2014 (13 persons), AutoCAD from June to September 2014 (10 persons), AutoCAD from November 2014 to January 2015 (13 Persons), AutoCAD KB from September 2014 to June 2015 (11 persons) and Asy-Syifa programme (15 Persons).
The ceremony also saw the presentation of the Best Trainee Awards for Youth Development Programme and short-term programme in three categories, namely, the Entrepreneurship and Skill Training Programme, Self-Development Programme and Work Attachment Programme.
Overall Best Trainee Awards were also handed out.
Awang Haswandi bin Haji Osman, the Acting Assistant Director of Youth Development Centre said the recipients of the awards are role models not only to the graduates but also the current and future trainees.
In the Youth Development Programme, the Best Trainee Award for the Entrepreneurship and Skill Training Programme went to Siti Musfirazatul @Musfira binti Mohammad from the Basic Information Technology and Communications Course; the Best Trainee in Self-Development Programme was LLyas bin Abdul Wahab from the Domestic Water Plumping Course; and Zain Arif bin Haji Zamain from the Air-Conditioning Course was the Best Trainee in the Work Attachment Programme.
In the short-term programme, the Best Trainee Award in the Entrepreneurship and Skill Training Programme as well as Self Development Programme went to Mohd Yudhy @ Danny bin Haji Jumat from Art Culinary Skill and Pastry and Confectionary Courses. While the Best Trainee Award in Work Attachment went to Nur Afnizan Nazurah binti Anizam from AutoCAD III course.
The Overall Best Trainee for Youth Development Programme was LLyas bin Abdul Wahab from Domestic Water Plumping Course. Mohd Yudhy @ Danny bin Haji Jumat from Art Culinary Skill and Pastry took the Overall Best Trainee Award for short-term programme.
The Youth Development Centre will regularly assess the demands of the job market to make sure that the courses produce quality and skilled workforce.
The centre is looking to diversify its courses as well as cooperate with stakeholders and strategic partners through public, private partnership to produce quality trainee graduates.
