Firefighters helped residents repair the roof of a longhouse in a rural part of Belait District which was damaged following strong winds in July last year.
The firefighters from the Public Relations Unit of the Operation ‘B’ Branch Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) visited the Apak-Apak Bang Taong longhouse in Mukim Sukang on Saturday. The visit was a part of a LifeSaver 995 briefing.
Fifteen residents of the longhouse participated in the briefing where the firefighters taught the proper use of firefighting equipment such as fire extinguishers.
They also shared information on spotting potential fire hazards as well as arrangements that could be made to ensure fire safety in the residence, particularly since the area is remote and first responders will not have immediate access.
