Team manager of Beruang Blazers, Wira Pori has called on all local supporters to come out in force to cheer on the Beruang Blazers.
He said, “The support from our community has always been critical to our campaign even if it is through online livestream. Our fans are our biggest motivator to make Brunei proud in EBL. I hope to see sellout crowds this weekend and give our esteemed visitors the Bruneian fan treatment – loud, proud and electrifying!”
At the recent KK Circuit, Beruang Blazers had a good run, winning against KK Eagles 79-76, beating Labuan Wasps 84-75 and losing to Kuching Lord Tigers with only a two point gap of 66-64.
Wira Pori commented on the progress of Beruang Blazers by saying, “There is no magic formula honestly. It all comes down to learning from our defeats, trusting and sticking to what works even if it is repetitive and giving 110 per cent effort on every defensive plays. We have to have faith that we are in every game until the final buzzer.”
On the chances of beating Kuching Lord Tigers in Brunei, he said, “We almost did win in KK. But then they showed why they are the defending champions. We hope to replicate our game against them and give our fans a night to remember.”
Commenting on the import players, he praised Lyndon Gudez, Delvin Goh and Hernal ‘Wowie’ Escosio for their performances in the EBL league so far.
Wira said, “Our imports have come up big in their own ways. They complemented our team and we can only hope this will be more than enough to bring our squad to the semifinals”.
