THE Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (PPNBD) will be participating in the 5th Asean Scout Jamboree on September 15-20, at the Tengku Muhammad Ismail Scout Camp in Terengganu, Malaysia.
The jamboree will be launched on September 17, under the theme of ‘Culture, Diversity and Heritage’.
Yesterday, a handover ceremony was held at the Scout headquarters in Gadong, during which Dato Paduka Haji Idris bin Haji Abas, the President of PPNBD, presented the national flag to Haji Mohammed bin Haji Ali, the Tutong District Scout Commissioner and Brunei contingent leader.
Also among those in atten-dance were Haji Badar bin Haji Ali, the Chief Commissioner of PPNBD; Haji Zainuddin bin Haji Jaafar, the Secretary-General; and Haji Mohd Zali bin Haji Arsad, the Chief Executive Officer.
Six Scout leaders and 10 Junior Scouts will be attending the jamboree, as well as several Venture Scouts from PPNBD.
According to Scout Executive Officer Zainudin bin Haji Ishak, the six-day jamboree will feature various activities which are planned to challenge the physical and mental strength of the participants.
Among the planned activities are traditional games and performances, a scout youth forum, social bonding and some educational tours.
