DELEGATES who attended the recent International Seminar on Islam in the Malay World (ICON IMAD VI) made visits to several interesting places in the capital and joined a cruise around the Brunei River.
Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) through the Secretariat of the International Seminar on Islam in the Malay World jointly organised the seminar with Universiti Islam Negeri Gunung Djati Bandung, Indonesia; Universiti Malaya (UM), Malaysia and the University of Prince Songkhla, Thailand which lasted for two days from September 20-21.
This programme is not only a platform for scholars to discuss and exchange ideas but also to get to know the country more through its culture, people and history.
The presenters and foreign participants had the opportunity to visit the Royal Regalia building and the Exhibition Centre at the State Mufti’s Office. The delegation also had the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Bandar Seri Begawan by cruising along Kampong Ayer and enjoyed the uniqueness of the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque. The presenters and participants comprising academicians from Indonesia and Thailand expressed their satisfaction with the beauty and harmony that exists in the country and the hospitality of the people of Brunei and hope to visit the Sultanate again in the future.
