THE Regional Women’s Conference 2016, with the theme of ‘Keperibadian Muslimah Misali Paksi Kecemerlangan Ummah’, is scheduled to take place on October 15, at the Main Hall of the International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas.
Hosted by the Women Graduates Association of Brunei Darussalam (PSW), the theme is relevant to the association’s aims of empowering women and making positive changes towards the country’s development.
This was announced yesterday, at a press conference at the Goldiana Café of the Orchid Garden Hotel in Berakas, by the Association’s President, Pengiran Hajah Zabaidah binti Pengiran Haji Kamaluddin.
The event also aims to enhance public understanding and appreciation of the Muslimah personality during the era of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), following the example of various Muslimah personalities, and raising awareness on current youth issues.
To meet these objectives, the organisers have invited several speakers to present working papers, namely, Dr Lily Suzana binti Haji Shamsu and Pengiran Dr Hajah Nur-Ashikin binti Pengiran Haji Petra from Brunei; Kurnia Irawati Istadi from Indonesia; Dr Norsaleha binti Mohd Salleh from Malaysia; and Suriati Abdullah from Singapore.
Pengiran Dr Hajah Nur-Ashikin will present a paper on ‘Identiti Wanita Melayu Islam Di Kurun 21M: Antara Tradisi dan Modenisasi’, during the Plenary 2 session in the afternoon.
Suriati Abdullah will present an interesting topic in Plenary 3, on ‘Pornografi dan Jenayah Siber di Asia Tenggara: Perspektif dari Singapura dan Cabaran-Cabaran Terhadap Jati Diri Muslimah dan Keluarga’.
While Plenary 4 will feature a talk on ‘Membangun Peradaban Islam Sesuai dengan Ketaladanan Rasulullah SAW dan Sahabat Muslimah’ by Kurnia Irawati.
