A SIGNING ceremony was held at Kemuda Institute yesterday for eight recipients who have been awarded financial assistance and a scholarship by the college to further their education.

Present to witness the signing ceremony was Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Muhammad, the Executive Chairman of Kemuda Institute.

In her speech, Hajah Hasnah binti Haji Azri, the Managing Director of Kemuda Institute, said that the college has allocated $69,000 this year to assist underprivileged students with academic potential.

She encouraged the recipients to excel in their studies while at the same time expressing a desire to see other private companies and organisations provide educational sponsorship for gifted students in reduced circumstances.

Seven recipients of the college’s Special Financial Assistance Scheme will continue their studies at various levels at Kemuda Institute. They are Siti Nurhaliza binti Hussin (NCC L4DC), Norhikmah binti Haji Kachi (BTEC L5 HND), Abdul Mu’iz bin Lamit (BTEC L5 HND), Abdul Hapiq Muhaimin bin Haji Salleh (BTEC L5 HND), Dayangku Siti Nur Ezzah Faizah binti Pengiran Darma Putra (BTEC L5 HND) and Rodziah binti Pehin Begawan Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Wahid (BTEC L3DIT).

Meanwhile, Mohammad Yusri bin Abu Bakar (BTEC L5 HND) received a full scholarship to continue his studies at the college.

In an interview, Andy Augustine, the Principal of Kemuda Institute, said that the college’s selection criteria are based on the recipients’ academic results and their parents’ financial situation.

“Some of the recipients have very good results, but due to financial difficulties, are unable to continue their studies to a higher level,” he told the Bulletin. “This scholarship award and special financial assistance scheme carried out by Kemuda Institute should provide a second opportunity for them to pursue their studies.”
