THE Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic Boys Secondary School (SMALHB) conducted its 4th Open Day at the school’s multipurpose hall yesterday.
The event was officiated by the guest of honour, Ustazah Hajijah binti Haji Moktal, Acting Director of Islamic Studies at the Islamic Studies Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs, who later took a tour of exhibition and launched ‘Syakirin Project’ at Taman Terapeutik.
Also seen during the event was the launching of ‘Buku Ristaan 50 Tahun SMALHB’ by Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs.
The open day was targeted at students from Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School (SUAMPRIPAD), Mahad Islam Brunei, Sungai Akar Arabic School, Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Bandar Seri Begawan Arabic Preparatory School, Belait Arabic School and Temburong Arabic Preparatory School.
Among those who participated in the event were Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB), Student Affairs, Co-Curriculum Section and academic departments of SMALHB.
The main objectives of the event were to serve as a platform for the students to select their courses when they enter Pre-U1 next year, to provide information and guidance to the students and their parents, to introduce the school as the only Arabic Sixth Form Centre in Brunei, to motivate lower secondary students to put more effort in their studies and to attract these students to continue their study in the Arabic field.
In addition, the students were also introduced to types of scholarships offered in various fields, clubs and associations available at SMALHB.
The Open Day was also enlivened with a mini video presentation on SMALHB, quizzes, exhibitions as well as mini bazaars.
