THE Traffic Control and Investigation Department (JSKLL) of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) and the Land Transport Department (JPD) continued its nationwide joint roadblock operation in the Tutong District yesterday.
ASP Pengiran Omar Ali bin Pengiran Haji Manshor, Acting Officer of Enforcement and Operation Unit, JSKLL Gadong said the operation yesterday was part of continued enforcement efforts to ensure that motorists and road users abide by the road traffic regulations in Brunei Darussalam.
In an interview, he stressed that such operation was not literally to find faults or offences made by road users but it was part of the continuous operation to help strengthen safety of all road users and others by enforcing traffic regulations.
The operation was carried both in the morning and afternoon. Some 50 personnel from JSKLL and six from JPD took part in the operation. The JPD unit was led by Sheikh Mohd Yusri bin Sheikh Haji Abdul Kadir, Enforcement Officer, JPD Gadong.
The road block operation took part in various points along the Tutong-Belait Highway including under the RPN Bukit Beruang flyover towards and from Telisai, and at the old Kampong Tanjong Maya roadway.
Throughout the day, 16 offences were recorded, which included dysfunctional break lights, worn-out tyres, number plates not following regulation and expired road tax.
