BRUNEI Darussalam’s representatives to the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2016 have done the country proud, by achieving Merit awards in two categories.
According to a press release, St John’s School, with their project titled ‘Ultimate FIT Challenge’ was awarded a Merit prize in the School Category. Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) was awarded a Merit prize in the Tertiary category, with their project titled ‘Smart Shower’.
Brunei Darussalam sent a total of seven teams, comprising of winners and runners up from the Brunei ICT Awards (BICTA) 2016. A total of 236 entries from 17 member economies competed in the prestigious international ICT competition, judged by 61 technical professionals which was held in Chinese Taipei from December 2-5.
Brunei’s participation in the APICTA Awards is a continuous initiative by the Ministry of Communications to stimulate innovation and creativity in ICT, as well as to develop the nation’s ICT sector by encouraging individuals, students and businesses to compete at the international level. Since 2008, Brunei has achieved two winner awards, 15 merit awards and one special mention.
