THE Welfare Body of Police’s Wives and Families (PEKERTI) yesterday morning brought cheer to 117 orphans under Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) by donating funds for their school expenses for the year 2017.
The donations were presented by the guest of honour Datin Hajah Kamariah binti Haji Abdul Hamid, the President of PEKERTI.
Also present was the Chairman of Welfare Body of PEKERTI, Hajah Siti Shamsiah binti Haji Abdul Samad along with other female police officers.
PEKERTI established an orphans fund in 2007 with the contributions coming from RBPF officers and personnel as well as members of the public.
The fund is aimed at helping children of RBPF members who have passed away and honour their late parents for their service to the RBPF.
The donations will ease the burden of single mothers or guardians of orphans in making preparations for the start of the new school term in 2017.
