THE Faculty of Syariah and Law and the Students’ Association of Syariah and Law at the Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) have come together to organise a charity drive for the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans.
The charity drive is taking place at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex from December 9-11. The event was held from 9am to 11.30am and from 2pm to 10pm on Friday, while from 9am to 10pm on other days.
A launching ceremony was held on Friday for the fundraiser, with Dr Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Ahmad, the Acting Rector of UNISSA, as the guest of honour.
The launch was also attended by senior officers, deans, deputy deans, faculty members and the staff of UNISSA.
Among the ongoing activities are pet and exotic animal exhibits, eSport games, dart balloons, ring-tossing, quizzes and food sales.
The main theme for this charity drive is ‘Fastabiqul Khairat’, which is a phrase from verse 148 of the Surah Al-Baqarah, meaning ‘to compete in doing good works’.
According to the event organisers, this slogan was especially chosen with the objective of encouraging all Muslims to give charity without hesitation, especially to those in need.
