MEMBERS of the Brunei Hokkien Association’s Youth Division yesterday morning participated in a blood donation drive led by Youth Chief Chua Teng Kiat.
Held at the Blood Donation Centre of Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital, the aim of the event was to help maintain a steady supply of blood for the bank so that it could help save lives.
Boosting the morale of donors, Brunei Hokkien Association’s Chairman Lim Han Chiong personally sponsored nutrient drinks at the event.
Chua Teng Kiat said, “This is the fourth time that the Brunei Hokkien Association’s Youth Division has organised a blood donation this year.”
As a frequent blood donor who started donating blood since 2000, he hoped that more youths will come forward to donating blood.
“Donating blood can not only help save lives but is also beneficial to one’s health,” he added.
The association’s youth chief recalled his first participation in a blood donation drive after reading in a newspaper about the low supply of blood in the blood bank in 2000. Since then, he has continued to donate blood, with this event marking his 47th donation.
