THE Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) distributed $600 of Zakat to fire victims of Kampong Pulaie during a handover ceremony yesterday at the Seroja Room, Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA).
The presentation was done by the Acting Secretary of MUIB, Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Akop.
The Zakat was distributed to the three people whose homes burnt down on April 1 – 69-year-old house owner Hajah Rasiah binti Haji Ja’afar and son Pengiran Anie bin Pengiran Chuchu each received $200, while Pengiran Anie’s son, Awangku Mohd Aiman Syafiq bin Pengiran Anie also received $200 along with some school stationary assistance.
The Zakat came from the Asnaf Fakir Miskin Group Zakat Fund allocation.
MUIB hopes that the assistance will ease the burden faced by the victims, while encouraging them to become more aware in maintaining the safety of their family members.
