THE agreement signed between Ghanim International Corporation and Quantum Emas Korea is a key milestone that provides a winning situation for not only the two companies, but also local businesses and Brunei Darussalam as a country.
This was highlighted by Dr Nur Rahman, the CEO of Ghanim International Corporation while speaking in a press conference yesterday following the signing of the partnership agreement between Ghanim and Quantum Emas Korea.
“It is significant. We would say that this is a key milestone not only for Ghanim but also for Brunei SMEs and businesses, because Quantum Emas is a resourceful and very strong organisation, and Korea is a very big, mature and strong market. To be able to have market entry into Korea, it gives access into a big market through our partners Quantum Emas, and ultimately, our SMEs and local businesses will be supplying our products.
“The products that have been listed, ultimately most of them will be sourced from local businesses, and this will generate export income and help the local businesses grow. We have to nurture and help the local businesses.
“This is a win-win-win-win situation,” he continued. “It’s a win for Quantum Emas because they will be getting high quality halal food products for their market. It’s a win for Ghanim International that using the platform we are working with Quantum Emas.
“It’s a win for the SMEs because a number of SMEs will be able to enter the markets through Ghanim. Ultimately their business will grow. It’s a win for the country because export income will come in through this exercise. I think it’s a four-win situation.”
The Ghanim CEO also explained how the agreement came to be.
“We have been working with Quantum Emas for the last few months. Initially we discussed how we can collaborate and cooperate, and export Bruneian products into the Korean market.
“The last few months we found some synergies and alignment between the two organisations, and we understood that we can go together, develop some products for this specific market and export from here.”
He noted that in Korea there is a need for good quality Halal food products for two reasons: one is that there is a Muslim community in Korea, and also that there is a huge number of tourists looking for good quality Halal food products.
“The Korean government is also supporting developing the Halal food industry into Korean Halal foods. So as a result of that, we identified that we can supply product and they can take product.”
He also highlighted that Ghanim International Corporation and Quantum East Korea will be working together on potential product development.
“We have got a number of products in our portfolio and we are increasing. Through our partnership they might find some products that are necessary in the Korean market that we don’t have in our portfolio at the moment. So that’s how we can cooperate, their development team with our development team, work together to come up with the product opportunity.
“That’s why we are saying we will work together to develop new product development processes. It’s not just banking on what we and Brunei currently have. What we can get information from them, we can replicate those products as Halal-certified bruneihalalfoods products,” Dr Nur Rahman explained.
“We want to be innovative. We want to come up with a differentiated product. To have the competitive advantage in the market place, we need to come up with a differentiated and innovative product… Customers these days want new products. They want to have something new. Once a product’s shelf life has finished, we need to come up with changes in the product’s features.
“That’s what we’ll be doing, working on how we can help each other and come up with a differentiated, innovative product that will be very suitable for Korean and the Philippines markets,” he added.
