A CLOSING ceremony was held yesterday at the Sports Village in Berakas after the completion of a three-day Young Humanitarian Workshop organised by the Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) from December 16 to 18.
Among the workshop’s objectives were to inculcate a sense of humanity among members, show how to manage or prepare for disasters, raise awareness on humanity projects and guide on providing assistance to fire victims, among others.
The contents of the workshop’s activities include learning about International Humanitarian Law, Humanitarian Law, The Seven Fundamentals, BDRC’s Strategy, Empowering Humanitarian Values in Young People, and Food Aid.
It was facilitated by Hisham Ismail, the Director of Community and Resilient Empowerment (CARE); Ahmad Akbal Adi Yusa, the Director of Civil Emergency Responses; Mohd Rosdi bin Haji Roslan, the Director of Volunteer and Youth Development, and Haji Mohd Ilham bin Haji Johari, the Director of BDRCS Academy.
The programme was joined by some 20 participants comprising BDRCS members and young volunteers.
After the presentation of certificates to participants, yesterday’s ceremony continued with a presentation of donations by Awang Hisham to Hajah Sharpina Abdullah, the victim of a recent fire.
