THE Brunei Darussalam Sepak Takraw Association (PESTABARU) President Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan bin Pengiran Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Abas has reminded players to refrain from negative influences especially if it is found violating regulations set by authorities.
Speaking during a thanksgiving ceremony in commemorating the success of the national team in recent times, Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan further added that the players must continuously maintain its discipline and comply by the set of rules they are prescribed to as an excellent athlete and of quality.
The president expressed his pride after claiming gold in the BIMP EAGA Friendly Games and bronze in Vietnam adding that the players’ achievements is testament to their hard work and commitment.
Brunei claimed bronze in the men’s trio of the Asian Beach Games in Da Nang, Vietnam.
He added that the players must continue to be committed in carrying out the 22-day training as the parent association has also been given a mandate to create a strong team.
“All of this is for the good and benefit of all parties who are involved not to mention preparation of participation in a regional and international platform and more importantly the Southeast Asian Games in 2017”, continued the president.
Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan affirmed that discipline is not only limited to their own self but also they are protecting the image of the association, club, employers and family who will benefit and serve as a prime example for the younger players.
He also thanked the Department of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the PESTABARU committee as well as all parties involved in realising the success of the national players in 2016.
He also paid tribute to the referees for the contributions in domestic competitions and affirmed that the association will be organising a championship next year.
