AROUND 100 alumni members of St Andrew’s School gathered recently for a reunion dinner at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.
The gathering was organised by some old friends who had been classmates from Kindergarten in 1976 to Primary Six in 1982, and who had not seen each other in over 30 years. Many of the former classmates flew in from Singapore and Malaysia for the reunion, while others sent pre-recorded video messages from the United States and India, expressing their regret at not being able to attend.
The event commenced with a recitation of the Surah Al-Fatihah, in memory of deceased friends, and a Doa Selamat for blessings.
In his welcoming remarks on behalf of event organisers, Pengiran Dr Hishamuddin bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Badaruddin lauded the group of friends who initiated the reunion through a WhatsApp chat circle, which subsequently had 138 members. A donation box was also provided at the venue for the fire victims of Kampong Pandai Besi ‘A’ and Kampong Lorong Dalam, with the funds handed over to a representative from the Ministry of Home Affairs after the dinner.
The group has also been organising various other activities, including a visit to St Andrew’s School and joining other cyclists for the ‘Bandarku Ceria’ programme on Sundays.
