IN AN effort to boost its reputation abroad, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) actively fosters strategic cooperation with higher educational institutions.
In view of this, UNISSA recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universitas Dharmawangsa (UNDHAR), Indonesia during a ceremony.
Signing on behalf of UNISSA was Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Rector of UNISSA, while UNDHAR Indonesia was represented by the Rector of the university, Dr Kusbianto, SH, MH.
Prior to the start of the ceremony, Dr Haji Norarfan welcomed the Indonesian delegation and expressed hope that the signing of the MoU will strengthen ties between the two parties, particularly in academics and research. The rector of UNDHAR also welcomed the intention to cooperate with UNISSA.
The agreement covers the exchange of students and academic staff from both institutions, journal writing and research as well as sending students and staff to pursue Masters and PhD at UNISSA.
Also present to witness the signing were the Acting Deputy Rector of UNISSA, Dr Arman bin Haji Asmad and senior officers of UNISSA.
During the visit, the two papers were presented during public lectures delivered by Prof Dr Lahmuddin Lubis, Head of Senate of the university and Dr Zamakhsyari Hasballah, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies.
Prof Dr Lahmuddin Lubis presented a paper on ‘The Existence of Education and Islamic Education Board in Indonesia (Pre and Post Indonesian Independence)’, while Dr Zamakhsyari Hasballah, presented papers in Arabic on ‘The Role of the Council of Ulama in Indonesia in Facing Present Challenges’.
