HER Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam graced the Women’s Special Assembly held yesterday in conjunction with the celebration of Maulidur Rasul for the 1438 Hijrah, which took place at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.
Accompanying Her Majesty to the event yesterday were Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Bini Hajah Faizah binti Dato Haji Nasir, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah, and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Upon arrival, Her Majesty and members of the royal families were greeted by Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs; Dato Paduka Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Dato Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade; and Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs.
The event opened with recitation of verses from the Al-Quran read by Dayangku Ummi Syazana binti Pengiran Haji Marjuki, Champion of the National Youth Musabaqah Tilawatil Al-Quran 1437H/2016 and its interpretation was read by Rasidah binti Haji Apong from the Islamic Da’wah Centre.
Hajah Siti Azizah binti Haji Musa, the Director of the Islamic Da’wah Centre, in her welcoming remark, said that the event marked the 23rd gathering since its inception in 1995.

She also added that a three-day exhibition that features local women entrepreneurs will be held as part of the programme to enliven the celebration.
The function was later enlivened with a choral speech presentation by students from the Kampong Katok Arabic Secondary School followed with a special talk by Dayangku Norhayati binti Pengiran Haji Kasharan on ‘Berwawasan Yang Berkat Dengan Bercontohkan Kepada Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wassalam’.

A Dikir Marhaban by officers and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and Council of Women’s of Brunei Darussalam was also part of the main highlight of the religious event yesterday.
To bless the function, a Doa Selamat was recited by Datin Hajah Maznah binti Haji Muhammad.
Her Majesty and members of the royal family were afterwards ushered to visit the mini exhibition outside the ICC’s Plenary Hall.
The annual religious gathering aimed for women to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and his role in enhancing the status of women and his characteristics as an example for Muslims.
