SERI Mulia Sarjana School (SMSS) celebrated its silver jubilee on Friday with a mass gathering of academic and support staff, students and parents.
The event began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony officiated by Dr Mary Lim, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and founder of SMSS, outside the school gates to symbolise a new beginning for SMSS.
A Doa was recited to bless the ceremony, followed by the singing of the national anthem and a speech from Dr Lim.
The event ended with the release of pigeons and 25 balloons to mark the occasion, with light refreshments for the attendees.
In an interview with the Sunday Bulletin, Dr Lim recalled how SMSS started out in 1992 as PDS School, with only 14 students and eight teachers.
Over the years, the number of students grew and today, SMSS has around 2,700 registered students from preschool to secondary level.
“We are thankful to our students’ parents and guardians for their continuous support,” she said, “That tells us that we are doing the right thing and that we are on the right track. We are truly grateful.”
She also said she that encourages her teaching staff to love, care and be patient, which is part of the school culture in managing and handling the students.
Dr Lim even took the opportunity to praise the school staff and the Ministry of Education, for assisting in the development of SMSS from the early years to its 25-year milestone.
