THIRTY-SIX families in need, residing around Lumut areas, received donations from the Takmir committee members of Zainab Mosque on May 3 at Zainab Mosque, Lumut.
Started in March, the donation programme aimed at encouraging people to contribute to the cause by donating various items, such as food and necessities to the families in need.
Present to deliver the donations as the special guest of the event was Haji Haslan bin Haji Shahbudin, the Village Head of Kampong Lumut I and II, who was welcomed by Haji Aminorddin bin Haji Md Yussof, the Head Imam of Zainab Mosque and the chairperson for the event.
The Head Imam of Zainab Mosque, in his speech, hoped that the donations would help the families in need and that the programme will continue in the near future. He said that this programme also provided an opportunity for people to be charitable as well as for the mosque to be not only a place of worship but also a centre for community development.
He expressed his gratitude to all involved in the donations as the donations would not be possible without their support.
The families, who were present at the event or represented by a relative, received letters acknowledging the donations being given to them by the mosque. These letters were given by the Village Head of Kampong Lumut I and II.
The event also saw a brief talk delivered by Ustaz Md Yusri bin Abdul Majid regarding the various aspect of living in the path of Allah the Almighty and how one should be considerate and be thankful to those who are in need and those who had help them.
