A TOTAL of 104 students and children of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) personnel who had achieved excellent results in their examinations last year were yesterday rewarded in a ceremony held at the RBAF Defence Academy in conjunction with the RBAF’s 56th anniversary.
The students received their awards according to their respective public exam results.
The ceremony was held as part of activities to commemorate the RBAF anniversary with the objective of recognising the outstanding academic achievements of personnel’s children whilst encouraging them to strive for further success in the future.
Commander of the RBAF, Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, presented awards to the students as the guest of honour.
Also present were service commanders, military directors, senior officers, as well as the students’ parents and guardians.
Muhammad Faris Hafiy @ Muhammad Syafiq Khairi bin Aide received the First Place Excellence Award for obtaining five A’s in his Brunei-Cambridge GCE ‘A’ Level examination.
Nur Farahiya Husna binti Ali Omar also received the First Place Excellence Award for obtaining 10 O’s in her Brunei-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level examination with grades four A*, five A and one B.
Thirty-five students who obtained five A’s in the Primary School Assessment examination received the Excellence Award.
Nuha Nadzirah binti Abdullah Md Salleh received the First Place Excellence Award for her Brunei Religious Education Certificate examination results.
She obtained grades four Mumtaz (A*), two Mumtaz (A) and one Zaid Jidan (B).
Amni Nurafiqah Nabihah binti Mohammad Handry received First Place Excellence Award for her Religious Education Primary Schools Certificate exam with Grade one, Aggregate five.
In her welcoming speech, Major Alinah binti Husin said the event was also a community activity organised by RBAF as a sign of appreciation and gratitude to Allah the Almighty for the excellence achievements of their children in last year’s examinations.
She shared that this year, 104 students have been selected to receive the awards, with 60 students winning excellence awards, 37 appreciation awards and seven best academic achievement prizes.
She added that this year has shown an academic improvement, as the number of award recipients has increased compared to 101 students the previous year.
On behalf of RBAF, she also expressed her highest appreciation and gratitude to all students, especially parents, who played an important role in educating their children, despite their work commitments.
She hoped that the excellent achievements shown by the award recipients will motivate and encourage other RBAF children to achieve better results in the future.
