UNIVERSITI Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) recently attended the Asia-Africa Islamic University Network Establishment Meeting as well as the International Seminar on Media Role in Addressing the Issue of Extremism and Terrorism at the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI), in Pakistan.
The Asia-Africa Islamic University Network Esta-blishment is an organisation dedicated to the enhancement of cooperation between higher learning institutions in Asia and Africa.
The meeting and conference was attended by the Rector of UNISSA, Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal.
The invitation was an example of the effectiveness of the cooperation between UNISSA and IIUI after the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding last February.
The Rector of UNISSA was honoured the position of Deputy Secretary General of the organisation. The meeting and conference held from May 15 to 16, attended by 14 leaders of Islamic university from Sudan, Indonesia, Thailand, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Uganda, Maldives, and Algeria among others, was chaired by President of IIUI, Professor Dr Ahmed Yousif Ahmed Al Draiweesh.
The Rector of UNISSA also accepted a goodwill call by the Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Haji Mahmud bin Haji Saidin @ Haji Mohd Saidin. – UNISSA
