A LEADERSHIP workshop for mukim and village consultative council (MPMK) members across the country began yesterday.
The workshop titled ‘Leadership Essential for Grassroots Leaders’ was organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and the Institute for Leadership, Innovation and Advancement (ILIA) at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD).
According to a press release by the ministry, 40 participants were selected from a total of 4,000 MPMK members in all four districts.
Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs, attended the launching of the three-day workshop yesterday, during which he congratulated the participants.
The minister also said that it was important for grassroots leaders to understand their tasks and responsibilities related to the country’s welfare and national unity, in order to achieve national development in accordance with Brunei Vision 2035.
The workshop is aimed at nurturing leadership potential at the grassroots level, by improving the participants’ knowledge and reviewing their abilities to carry out daily tasks.
Also present during the launch were Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the MoHA; Haji Idris bin Haji Md Ali, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the MoHA; and senior officials from the ministry.
