HIS Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and General of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) yesterday attended a religious ceremony at the Ministry of Defence’s Surau Ad-Difa’ in the Bolkiah Garrison, to commemorate the RBAF’s 56th anniversary.
His Royal Highness on arrival at the Bolkiah Garrison was welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Defence, First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit; and the Commander of the RBAF, Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah.
The ceremony began with a recitation of selected verses from Surah An-Nahl of the Al-Quran, by Corporal (U) Musa bin Haji Sahat from the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF).
This was followed by congregational Zohor prayer accompanied with recitation of the Surah Yaasiin, Tahlil and thanksgiving prayers, led by Imam Zulfadhli bin Haji Awang and Imam Shuib bin Abdullah.
After the prayers, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince received a ‘Junjung Ziarah’ from the army personnel present at the ceremony, and signed a royal parchment to commemorate the event.
This was followed by a group photo session.
RBAF marked its anniversary on May 31, which is normally observed with a grand parade mounted by all units of the armed forces. This year’s grant parade, however, has been postponed to a later date, out of respect for the holy month of Ramadhan.
The theme of the RBAF’s 56th anniversary celebration is ‘Bersama Menjayakan Wawasan Negara’ (Together in accomplishing the National Vision).
Also present at yesterday’s religious ceremony were Captain (Rtd) Abdul Rahman bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, RBN; services commanders; deputy permanent secretaries; and senior officers from the Ministry of Defence and RBAF.
