THIRTY-NINE underprivileged families and selected senior citizens in the Brunei-Muara District received donations and gifts delivered to their doorsteps from the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) in a charity drive yesterday as part of the foundation’s annual project during Ramadhan.
A total of $42,654 were distributed among selected families in the form of cash donations, daily essentials and food items during the charity drive led by Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Minister of Education, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Yayasan Board of Directors.
The minister, joined by Haji Brahim bin Haji Ismail, Managing Director of Yayasan and Yayasan members, visited 20 houses in 13 villages in the Brunei-Muara District yesterday.
Senior citizens also received medical supplies and equipment while two families whose houses affected by a fire in Kampong Limau Manis – Patnah binti Haji Bakar and Mohd Aminnezam bin Othman – received cash donations totalling $11,600.
The contributions were intended to ease the burden and assist the families in preparing for the upcoming Hari Raya celebrations, is in line with the foundation’s mission and also part of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s aid to the welfare of people in need.
The Yayasan Ramadhan charity drive in the Brunei-Muara District was also conducted in collaboration with Yayasan’s strategic partners, the Four Wheel Drive Association of Brunei Darussalam.
