THE orphans and senior citizens in Mukim Peramu and other villages in Kampong Ayer yesterday received financial assistance from the Penghulu of Mukim Peramu Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Ismit bin Pengarah Mukim Haji Naim.
A total of 113 senior citizens living in the vicinity of Mukim Peramu and 536 orphans in Kampong Ayer received the contributions meant to lighten the burdens of the recipients, especially in making preparations for Hari Raya.
Presenting the donations were guests of honour Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim, the Brunei-Muara District Officer and spouse.
The ceremony proceeded with the recitation of Tahlil and Doa Tahlil for departed family members, led by Shahminan bin Haji Matzin, Village Head of Kampong Bolkiah ‘A’.
Recipient Pengiran Hajah Minah binti Pengiran Haji Besar, 74, from Kampong Peramu, thanked the generosity of the Penghulu of Mukim Peramu for helping senior citizens in not only for Hari Raya but also their daily needs.
Another recipient, Hafiuddin bin Zainuddin, said that the donation he received will be used for his and his five siblings’ future needs.
