THE Information Department under the Prime Minister’s Office, through the International Affairs Unit acting as the Secretary of the Sub-committee of Information for Asean-COCI (Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Committee on Culture and Information) con-ducted its ‘Understanding Asean’ Roadshow at Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Secondary School (SMPAPHRSB).
Over 430 SMPAPHRSB students along with their teachers attended the roadshow.
The guest of honour, SMPAPHRSB Principal, Halizawati binti Haji Kepli oversaw the event.
The roadshow aimed to educate participants about the 10 Asean member countries.
The roadshow also served as an opportunity to further develop their understanding of Asean as well as to highlight the influence of students in the future of Asean.
Abdul Karim bin Hamdan, Special Duties Officer Grade II, Head of the International Affairs Unit, Information Department presented briefings pertaining to the Asean.
The briefing hoped to allow the students to gain a sense of patriotism as well as a sense of a single community which is in line with the Asean motto – One Vision, One Identity, One Community.
The roadshow concluded with a series of quizzes conducted by Isa bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Information Field Officer.
SMPAPHRSB Deputy Principal of Administration, Nazli Noor binti Haji Marmin, presented prizes to the students.
The roadshow is scheduled to continue in other Belait District schools. A similar roadshow will be held at Belait Arabic School in Jalan Dipa Negara, Mumbong.
