POLITEKNIK Brunei (PB) yesterday welcomed 730 fresh faced students to its Orientation Week at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.
In his speech, PB Director cum guest of honour Denis Ho Mun Tai congratulated the successful candidates of the seventh intake.
“I believe that PB will continue to produce young workers to accommodate the need for skilled workers in respective industries in Brunei Darussalam, and this is in line with the PB vision – to be a well-known polytechnic that generates innovative, skilled and marketable graduates,” he said.
He also urged the newbies to pay attention to the PB values, namely integrity, leadership, respect, innovation, collaboration and excellence.
The new intake, particularly those who will be pursuing Diploma courses (Level 5), was reminded on the need to comply with the attendance requirement of the institution, failing which would result in the failure of a module in the last semester, or affect the chances of obtaining a Diploma certificate in the final year.
This intake will see 21 Level 4 and 5 Diploma courses conducted in three locations.
The Level 5 Business and ICT courses will be conducted at the School of Business, and School of Information and Communication Technology at the Ong Sum Ping Campus.
The Level 5 Science and Engineering courses will be held at the Lumut Campus, while the Level 4 Health Sciences courses will be conducted at the Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Institute of Health Sciences (PAPRSB IHS), Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD).
The first day of the Orientation Week included briefings on administration and religious projects. Briefings were also delivered by the Research and Development Department; Health, Security and Environment; and Student Services and Etiquette.
The two-day event will end today after a host of activities and programmes to help students better understand PB and life as a PB student.
