QAF’s hopes of advancing to the semi-finals of the Inter Company Netball Tournament were dealt a severe blow following a 13-6 defeat to Baiduri Bank at the Public Works Department Sports Complex last night.

The bank’s victory was partially inspired by the lethal partnership of Amalina Yaakub and Muyassarah Manap at the attacking end of the court as the former fashioned clinical finishing.

Baiduri raced to a 4-1 lead but QAF managed to keep the scores close trailing 5-3 but the former simply had sufficient firepower to win the game.

It was the same energy and enthusiasm which kept Baiduri in the driving seat for most of the second half as the goal shooter was even allowed several missed attempts with the goal attacker attending to the misses with a smart finish.

With Standard Chartered Bank and Telbru winning their games earlier, the pressure mounted on QAF to stay in contention on the top two slots for a ticket to the last four.

Meanwhile, defending champions B.T Forwarding strengthened their grip on Group ‘A’ after registering their sixth consecutive win of the tournament in a 13-11 victory over DST.

The reigning holders have two games left to play and could already look forward to a return to the semi-finals most likely with the runners-up of Group ‘B’ with Baiduri in the mix.

DST are also challenging for a spot in the last four despite the defeat after their chances were boosted with a win over Royal Brunei Airlines on Monday.
