THE Malar Setia Group of Companies yesterday afternoon spread festive cheers to special needs children of Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam in a Hari Raya get-together celebration at the Orchid Garden Hotel.
Some 330 special needs children and their family members attended the get-together, which saw donations presented to Pusat Ehsan, Centre for Children with Special Needs (KACA) and SMARTER Brunei.
Presenting the donations were Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Metasim, the Executive Chairman of Malar Setia Group of Companies, CL Lim, the Manager of Syarikat Malar Setia, and Chia Tet Shin, Manager of Syarikat Perniagaan Muneera.
Raya packets were also presented by Hajah Fatimah binti Haji Ludin, the wife of Mohdar bin Haji Ahmad, the Village Head of Kampong Menglait; Hajah Kamsiah binti Haji Ahmad, wife of Haji Abdul Rahman; and Jong Siew Choong, the spouse of CL Lim.
Awang Mohdar in his remarks highlighted that “it has been about five years since we have hosted such an event. Through the celebration, we hope to spread festive cheers to the children of Pusat Ehsan”.
Haji Ahmad bin Haji Abdul Rahman, a Trustee for Policy and Planning of Pusat Ehsan, meanwhile said, “It is a yearly tradition for the Malar Setia Group of Companies to host a Hari Raya get-together with Pusat Ehsan. I would like to convey my gratitude to the Malar Setia Group of Companies for their gesture.”
Recalling the recent achievements of Pusat Ehsan, Haji Ahmad added, “Pusat Ehsan has reached yet another important point of its establishment with the unveiling of a new building that is equipped with facilities to provide improved quality services.
“The milestone has proven the success of Pusat Ehsan that is based on contributions from the private sector. The cost of constructions of the new building comes from public donations and private companies.”
He further expressed, “Without you (donors), we would not be able to build and run our programme… and Pusat Ehsan will continue to strive to improve its services to care and provide services for those with special needs.”
Phase 2 of the new vocational complex and surau is in progress and he hoped that members of the public and private sector would continue to provide assistance towards the project.
