THE Hari Raya Aidilfitri get-together with new Muslim converts continued with a visit by Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud and spouse to the Temburong District recently.
Also present with the delegation were Acting Director of the Islamic Da’wah Centre Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh; Acting Assistant Director of the Islamic Da’wah Centre Abdul Aziz bin Haji Abdul Kahar, senior officials at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), officers and staff of Islamic Da’wah Centre, as well as Temburong District Dakwah Unit. The ceremony took place at the religious hall of Kg Sibut.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat led by Imam Awang Lisa bin Haji Tengah of the Kg Sibut Religious Hall, followed by welcoming remarks by chairperson of the ceremony, Head of Temburong District Dakwah Unit, Hazimin bin Haji Metali.
The ceremony was enlivened with performances from students of Amo Temburong Religious School and youths of Utama Mohd Salleh Mosque, as well as Muslim converts of Temburong District.
The guests of honour visited Rumah Bahagia in Kg Sibut, located near Kg Sibut Religious Hall.
The house has four units, each with three bedrooms, living room, dining room, toilet and bathroom. The construction of Rumah Bahagia began on October 2, 2003 at a cost of $154,700, funded by Brunei Islamic Religious Council.
The house was first occupied on July 19, 2004 and currently accommodates three Muslim converts’ families of 14 persons.
The objectives of the event are to show care towards their wellbeing, especially to the inland residents and to foster close relations.
Nine persons became Muslim converted to Islam in Temburong District from January to June 1 this year.
