THE ‘Bazaar Amal Keputeraan 2017’ charity bazaar, organised in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 71st birthday celebrations, is being held at the Muhibbah Hall of Brunei-Muara District Office.
Organised by the Mukim and Village Institute Section of the Brunei-Muara District Office, the bazaar was launched by the chief guest and Legislative Council (LegCo) member YB Pengiran Haji Ali bin Pengiran Maon.
The event features some 30 booths set up by local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and Mukim Consultative Councils (MPMs) from throughout the country.
The bazaar, which will run until July 29, is open to the public daily from 8am to 7pm.
Also present at the launching was Head of the Mukim and Village Institute Section, Brunei-Muara District Office, Rosdin bin Haji Abdul Aziz.
Meanwhile, Mohd Hasmawi bin Ghani, the event’s co-chairman and Head of MPK Kilanas Economic Bureau, said that 10 per cent of the booth rent proceeds will be channelled into the Brunei-Muara District Charity Fund.
He encouraged members of the public to come support this event, the sixth of its kind, in the name of charity.
“The event aims to support local SMEs to increase their business and help boost the country’s economic activities,” he said.
“The bazaar also provides SMEs and the MPMs the opportunity to showcase their products and motivates the local community to do charity work.”
The chief guest also toured the bazaar’s booths and mingled with the vendors and visitors.
