PARENTS and guardians are urged to remind their children to be wary of the negative elements on the Internet.
The call was made by Ahmad Jefri bin Abdul Rahman, Acting Assistant Managing Director of the Brunei Investment Agency and a member of the Board of Governors of the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE), in his lecture on Internet regulation attended by students from the Institute of Brunei Technical Educations Sultan Saiful Rijal Technical College Campus yesterday.
The Internet is medium that is very difficult to monitor and regulate because it is not owned by an individual or organisation, he said in his lecture entitled ‘Internet Regulation: Fact or Fiction?’.
He also spoke about the impact of Internet on daily lives and shared the existing regulations and policies governing Internet use in Brunei.
Some 60 diploma students majoring in Information and Library Science as well as HNTec in Information Technology under the School of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) from IBTE took part in the interactive session.
