THE residents of Kampong Lumut were in high spirits as they were recently treated to a Korban ceremony held at the Zainab Mosque, Kampong Lumut, Belait District.
The event was organised by Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB) and its subsidiaries, Insurans Islam TAIB Holdings Sdn Bhd and Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd.
The guest of honour who oversaw the ceremony and presented Korban meat to the recipients was Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sports and the Chairman of Perbadanan TAIB’s Board of Directors, who was accompanied by his wife.
The minister was welcomed by Hajah Noorrafidah binti Sulaiman, the Acting Managing Director of Perbadanan TAIB, and Haji Osman bin Haji Md Jair, the Managing Director of Insurans Islam TAIB Holdings.
Also present were YB Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin, the Penghulu of Mukim Liang and Legislative Council member representing the district, along with members of the Perbadanan TAIB’s Board of Directors and its subsidiaries, members of the Syariah Advisory Committee, senior government officials, the Village Heads of Kampong Lumut I and II, Zainab Mosque Takmir Committee members and other invited guests.
More than 103 heads of families who are underprivileged from the village and registered under the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) were also invited to attend.
The ceremony would not be complete without the Korban meat that was distributed, and 21 staff members of Perbadanan TAIB and its subsidiaries had contributed seven cows that were slaughtered this year.
The ceremony commenced with a Surah Al-Fatihah recitation by Soffian bin Bidin, the Acting Imam of Zainab Mosque, followed by the presentation of Korban meat to the heads of families by the minister for the men and by Hajah Noorafidah binti Sulaiman for the women and children.
The Korban meat was also received by the staff members of Perbadanan TAIB and its subsidiaries.
Perbadanan TAIB also presented Waqaf in the form of Kracher-branded water jet cleaners and vacuum cleaners to the mosque.
The ceremony concluded with the guests being served a feast by Perbadanan TAIB and its subsidiaries to further enliven the festive event.
