MEMBERS of the public are welcome to celebrate and honour Brunei Darussalam’s brave soldiers and take a closer look at significant developments made in the country’s defence capabilities, during the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF)’s 56th anniversary celebration tomorrow.

Themed ‘Together in Realising the National Vision’, the event, which is commemorated every May 31 will culminate with a grand parade tomorrow morning at the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) Base in Muara. The event is held in lieu of the original celebratory date which fell on the month of Ramadhan.

The grand parade will honour the entire armed forces that devoted their lives serving the country and will give the public a better understanding on the different roles undertaken by the RBAF in defending and maintaining peace in the country while also giving a better perspective of careers that are available in the army.

The grand parade tomorrow morning will involve some 1,000 personnel from main units of the RBAF – the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF), Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) and Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) as well as the Training Institute, Special Force Regiment and Women’s Company.

The venue of the event at the RBN Base will also give members of the public the opportunity to experience the latest assets owned by Brunei’s naval defence force, including its fleets of Darussalam class offshore patrol vessels.

The public is all welcome to partake in the many activities and events lined up for them and their families the whole day tomorrow and must look forward to an arena show that will demonstrate a joint maritime operation to combat threat in Brunei’s waters featuring assets and personnel from the RBN, RBAirF and Special Force Regiment among others.

Static displays featuring the latest assets from units of the RBAF will also be showcased during the open day giving visitors the opportunity to learn more about its functions.

A host of activities for people of all ages have also been lined up, with food bazaars and also fun fair that will include Flying Fox, Paint Ball – RBTS, Escape Room, Pony Ride, Train Ride and Archery.

Visitors are advised to park their vehicles at designated public parking spaces (see image) nearby the Muara Naval Base where shuttle bus pick-up points are available and follow instructions from army personnel on duty throughout the day.

Four designated parking spaces have been allocated for the day – parking areas of Setia Ali Mosque, Muara Port, Muara Health Centre and the field near the RBN Flat in Jalan Pahlawan and Jalan Damuan.

The RBN Base will be open to the public from 7am to 5pm while the arena show will take place from 10am to 11am and 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

This year’s theme, which is in line with the 33rd National Day celebration signifies its relevance to RBAF’s role, in supporting the country’s development holistically, by ensuring a harmonious and peaceful environment through a robust defence and security strategy.

As the pillar of national defence and security, the RBAF also functions as an agent for unity between national security agencies to maintain stability and peace.
