THE Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) 7th Mahrajan Haflut Takharruj (convocation festival) continued at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas with a forum yesterday.
The forum, themed ‘Memperkasakan Produk Halalan Thayyiban Teras Kesejahteraan Masyarakat’, or ‘Empowering Halal Products is Society Core Wellness’, was moderated by Dr Sulaiman Dorloh, a senior lecturer at UNISSA.
The speakers at the forum were Associate Prof Dr Nurdeng Deuraseh, Director of Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre, UNISSA and Haji Yusof bin Haji Abdul Latif from the Halal Food Control Division, Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The forum aimed to highlight the contribution and experience of UNISSA Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre in disseminating Halal science through Halal education.
It also sought to discuss academic programmes related to Halalan Thayyiban systematically and effectively to produce research and education in a comprehensive manner.
Halal studies is a global education proposition ready to be the next world educational market force. Asean has to play an active role in Halal education since Muslims stress on the importance of the permissibility of products to be used and consumed.
The concern of Halal education in Asean increased tremendously as a result of the increase of the Muslims population in Asean member countries. Various Islamic political policies have been implemented in Brunei Darussalam to disseminate and develop Halal education.
