A LAUNCHING ceremony was held yesterday for the Visionary Youth: Catalyst for Transformation exhibition at Politeknik Brunei (PB) Main Campus.
The exhibition was held as part of the final year project for students of the 5th intake of PB School of Business.
PB Director cum guest of honour Denis Ho Mun Tai officiated the event and presented appreciation awards to the local entrepreneurs who contributed their efforts and support to the students’ final year project and exhibition.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat followed by a speech by the guest of honour, who highlighted that the project is able to strengthen relations between students and local entrepreneurs, as well as provide students with knowledge and new experience, particularly business skills.
“It can also be used as a guide in bringing change to leadership and management, whether for the students themselves or for the race, religion and country,” he added.
The exhibition showcased final year project works – done in partnership with a local entrepreneur vendor – from 11 groups consisting of 72 students.
Speaking to the Sunday Bulletin, Haji Yusriman bin Haji Jumat and Nuruldiana Mak binti Haji Muhd Sufri, the final year project coordinators, explained that this is the first time they’ve coordinated this type of project, where the students had to find vendors on their own to work with for four months.
The objective of the project and exhibition is to provide an avenue for students to demonstrate their ability to solve issues faced by the entrepreneurs and to formulate suitable recommendations or solutions to tackle these real life situations.
Haji Yusriman also explained that there were four stages the students had to go through – discussions with vendors, report writing, a sharing session with vendors, and the exhibition to showcase their work.
Among the local entrepreneur vendors supporting the projects were Kunyit 7 Lodge, Hafidh Furniture, Pumpkin Boutique, Dot Dot Collection, Zasyah Boutique, Elegant House, Top Folk, Uncle J’s Grill & Sandwiches, Rumah Gelato Frozen Treats, Hana Kitchen and Al Huffaz Management.
The PB School of Business Final Year Project Exhibition is an innovative event that will provide students the opportunity to present their final year project findings to a wide audience, allowing young researchers (students) of today to cultivate and develop useful skills, such as the ability to present and communicate ideas.
