UNIVERSITI Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) recently received a visit from the Mufti of the Federal Territories (Malaysia), Sahibus Samahah Datuk Dr Zulkifli bin Mohamad Al-Bakri.
Accompanying Sahibus Samahah Datuk Dr Zulkifli were the Deputy Mufti of Federal Territories (Malaysia), Haji Hashim bin Salleh and his delegation.
According to a press release, the visit was a tribute to UNISSA’s efforts to upgrade its reputation to the international level with the views and advice provided by Islamic intellectuals and scholars.
Sahibus Samahah Datuk Dr Zulkifli was one of the panels of the Knowledge Convention 2017 held for three days at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.
Sahibus Samahah Datuk Dr Zulkifli and his delegation were welcomed by Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, the Rector of UNISSA, and they attended a briefing on the history of UNISSA’s establishment as well as its development and achievements internationally.
The Rector of UNISSA also explained that the establishment of UNISSA is the vision of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, to produce genuine Islamic scholars and intellectuals as well as to make UNISSA a hub of Islamic learning centre in the region.
Sahibus Samahah Datuk Dr Zulkifli was impressed with the efforts undertaken by UNISSA to realise His Majesty’s absolute vision. He hoped that UNISSA would become an Islamic university that produces Ulama and intellectuals with spiritual and physical qualities.
Also present were UNISSA’s deans of faculty and directors of centre.
