National Al-Quran Competition finalists announced

TWELVE finalists were announced for the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults 1439 Hijrah yesterday, at the Muzakarah Hall of the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.

The chosen Qaris are Ahmad Zulwaqar bin Haji Suhaili, Haji Mohd Fikri bin Haji Metussin, Mohammad bin Ali, Haji Nasrul Fakhri bin Haji Yahya, Mohd Albi bin Haji Ibrahim, and Mohd Zulhafiz bin Tengah.

Meanwhile, the chosen Qariahs are Dayangku Ummi Syazana binti Pengiran Haji Marjuki, Siti Nurnabilah binti Major (Rtd) Haji Abdul Rahman, Hajah Nurfaezah binti Haji Emran, Hajah Nurhapidzah binti Haji Hassan, Hajah Zahrina binti Abdul Wahab and Dayangku Fauziah Nadhirah binti Pengiran Haji Jofri.

The event began with welcoming remarks from Haji Madzneh bin Haji Mohd Noor, the Head of Islamic Syiar Development Division, Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, the Minister of Communications, presented tokens of appreciation to the finalists.

Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs; Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs; Dr Haji Supry bin Haji Awang Ladi, the Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications; Roslan bin Haji Taja’ah, the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Administrative and Financial Affairs) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs; and Haji Serudin bin Haji Timbang, the Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Core and Religion) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs were also present.

The event was jointly organised by the Islamic Syiar Development Division and the Department of Mosque Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The competition semi-finals were held on November 14-15.
