THE Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Brunei Darussalam hosted a reception at The Empire Hotel & Country Club last night to mark the 47th National Day of the Sultanate of Oman.
Minister of Religious Affairs cum guest of honour Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman represented the government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
Representing the State of Oman at the reception was Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Brunei Darussalam, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel bin Rashed bin Hashel Al-Maskari.
In his speech, the ambassador highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and Oman.
“The two Sultanates have always maintained mutual respect, profound friendship and fruitful cooperation in various fields. Achievements in our bilateral relations would not have been made without the support, assistance and involvement of the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and the friendly people of Brunei. Having said that, it is my firm belief that with combined efforts, we will Insya Allah bring greater success and brighter future to Oman-Brunei relations,” the ambassador said.
The event continued with a presentation of a token of appreciation by the ambassador to the minister, a cake-cutting with ambassadors of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and sand art performances by invited sand art artist.
Members of Diplomatic Corps were also present at the event.
