GOLFERS participating in the five-day Korean Pro-Golfing Association (PGA) rookie golf championship being held at The Empire Hotel & Country Club golf course are impressed with its scenic views and beautiful fairways.
Dae Sik Sim, who has been golfing for more than 10 years, was taken by the beauty of the course.
“This is a very beautiful golf course. It’s really fun to play on it,” he told the Bulletin following a tournament practice session last Friday.
Another golfer, 17-year-old Tae Yang Jung added, “I felt like a VIP here in this magnificent golf course and the amazing hotel.”
Seong Hyeon Kim, meanwhile, said, “The scenic view at hole 15 is really unforgettable. We can see the beach and the sea while golfing. It is the best golf course that I have ever played in.”
The trio agreed that they would love to return to Brunei Darussalam and enjoy the
facilities at The Empire Hotel & Country Club after the tournament.
Giving his thoughts on how confident he is of winning the championship, Dae Sik Sim said, “As long as I stay focussed, I feel that I can win the tournament.”
Tae Yang Jung, who has been playing golf since he was eight years, said, “I feel confident that I could overcome the tricky part of the course to grab this rookie championship.”
Seong Hyeon Kim was in similarly bullish mood. “This is my time to shine. I will do my best to win the competition,” the 19-year-old declared.
The Jack Nicklaus-designed championship golf course is 7,029 yards in length, stretching along Jerudong Beach and overlooking the South China Sea. The course has played host to numerous international and local competitions over the years.
The tournament is organised by local travel agency Sinar Tour Sdn Bhd in collaboration with main partners including the Brunei Tourism and The Empire Hotel & Country Club.
