THE Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Brunei Darussalam hosted a dinner reception to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Independence Day of Myanmar last night at the Indera Samudra Grand Hall of The Empire Hotel & Country Club, Jerudong.
Present as guest of honour and representing the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Bahrin bin Abdullah, the Minister of Development along with his spouse, Pengiran Datin Hajah Norsiah binti Pengiran Haji Hamdan.
They were received by the Ambassador of Myanmar to Brunei Darussalam, U Cho Htun Aung.
The event commenced with a welcoming speech by U Cho Htun Aung in which he highlighted the strong diplomatic ties between Brunei and Myanmar and cooperation in various fields including energy and agriculture.
The event continued with a ceremonial cake-cutting by the guest of honour.
U Cho Htun Aung presented a token of appreciation to Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Bahrin.
Also present at the reception were members of the foreign Diplomatic Corps.
