THE Brunei Info-communications Technology Awards (BICTA) 2016 will recognise the very best of the best among the overall winners through the Royal Patron Award, which is held every alternate year.
To assist registered participants of this year’s BICTA competition in preparing for the judging phase, the BICTA Working Committee has organised a series of workshops which will equip the participants with additional knowledge and skills that they can use in their final submissions, as well as their studies or professions.
The first in the series of three workshops was held at Seri Kerna Hall, the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI).
Present to deliver welcoming remarks was the Deputy Chief Executive of AITI in his capacity as the Chairman of the BICTA Working Committee, Haji Jailani bin Haji Buntar.
The workshop, entitled ‘Global ICT Trends: Opportunities for Brunei’, was facilitated by TelBru Chief Marketing Officer, Lim Ming Soon. He spoke about global ICT trends and solutions, and gave an insight into TelBru’s perspectives on innovative technologies and solutions in demand.
The participants were also given an opportunity to discuss the relevancy of their projects and how these technologies could be applied in real-life situations. Over 100 participants attended the morning workshop.
The second workshop in early June will be on Market Validation, which will highlight the importance of market validation and how to ensure that a product concept meets the potential target markets.
It will provide participants with hands-on guidance on how to test, market and sell their products, as well as gaining acceptance and willingness to buy from users.
The last workshop in July will be on Presentation and Pitching Skills to train participants for effective presentation structure and pitching skills which in turn will equip them with the skills to engage and sell their products to the panel of judges in August this year.
