THE Tutong Police District has revived their Neighbourhood Watch programme following a meeting with the mukim peng-hulu and village heads of Mukim Ukong in the Tutong District.
The police delegation at the meeting was led by Superintendent Suhairi bin Haji Sukri, Commanding Officer of Tutong Police District and Inspector Muhd Zulfadli bin Haji Yusof, Officer-In-Charge of Lamunin Police Station, and included five other police officers from the Lamunin Police Station.
Representing Mukim Ukong were Mukim Ukong Penghulu Haji Omar bin AbduL Aziz; Haji Mohd Shadiqin bin Abdullah Janjam, Village Head of Kampong Bukit; and Mohd Addy Sufian bin Abdullah, Village Head of Kampong Long Mayan.
The meeting was convened for the parties concerned to scrutinise more closely the current progress and development in the villages and exchange information on criminal activities occurring there. The current crime statistics report under the purview of the penghulu and village heads, as well as planning work on Neighbourhood Watch activities to be carried out this year were also presented and discussed.
It was also important in terms of building good rapport and cooperation between the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) and village communities, which helps increase the effectiveness of the Neighbourhood Watch for the good and safety of the local community.
